Rigby Comments on Rash of Shootings in Johnstown

April 27, 2026

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) offered the following thoughts in reaction to a rash of gun violence in Johnstown’s Moxham neighborhood:

“Three shootings in the last four days in the City of Johnstown are both alarming and deeply concerning. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and all residents who are feeling the impact of this violence.

“Johnstown is just outside the boundaries of the district I represent; however, public safety is a shared responsibility, and violence like this affects our entire region.

“Those responsible must be identified and held fully accountable. At the same time, preventing further violence and avoiding retaliation must be an immediate priority.

“I have confidence in local law enforcement and the elected officials who protect and represent the city, and I stand ready to assist at the state level in any way that may be helpful - whether through resources, coordination, or support.

“This is a time for unity, vigilance and action. I will continue to monitor the situation closely and remain committed to supporting efforts that restore safety and stability to the community.”

Questions about this or any state government issue should be directed to Rigby’s Cresson office at 814-886-1055, his Ferndale office at 814-536-9818, or his Somerset County office at 814-509-6942.
