Rigby Bridge Dedication to Recognize Local Volunteer

WHAT: State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a ceremony to rename the bridge which carries Pennsylvania Route 53 over Patty’s Run in Gallitzin Township, Cambria County, as the USMCWR Mary A. Lidwell Memorial Bridge.

Lidwell, who was born in Amsbry, Cambria County, volunteered for the United States Marine Corps in 1943 and joined the Women’s Aviation Reserve Squadron. After leaving the Marine Corps, she became very active in her community through volunteer efforts and serving in local government.

WHO: Rigby will be joined by members of the Lidwell family.

WHEN: Sunday, Oct. 12, 2 p.m.

WHERE: Ashville VFW Post 4315, 158 Main St., Ashville.
