Rigby to Honor Local Veteran

WHAT: State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a dedication ceremony to rename the bridge which carries Route 53 over Bear Rock Run in Lilly Borough, Cambria County, the “Corporal James D. Sloan Memorial Bridge.”

Sloan attended Penn Cambria High School and served during the Vietnam War. He died at home on March 12, 1971, after suffering from PTSD.

WHO: Rigby will be joined by members of Sloan’s family.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 9, 1 p.m.

WHERE: American Legion Post 238, 222 Ashcroft Ave., Cresson.
