Rigby to Host Small Games of Chance Seminar

September 9, 2025

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) is inviting businesses and organizations that hold liquor licenses and offer small games of chance to join him at a seminar he is hosting on Tuesday, Oct. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cresson Volunteer Fire Company, 223 Ashcroft Ave., Cresson.

Anyone planning to attend the seminar should register in advance by either calling Rigby’s office at 814-886-1055 or visiting his website, www.RepJimRigby.com, and clicking on the “Events” tab.

“The laws, regulations and rules governing small games of chance can be complex, so it’s natural for local liquor license holders to have questions,” Rigby said. “This workshop is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to get answers to those questions and learn the standards set by law.”

“Officer Zachary Hochrein from the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement will open with a presentation that will be followed by a question-and-answer session,” he added.

Pennsylvania law allows eligible organizations to offer a limited assortment of games, including pull tabs, punchboards, raffles, daily drawings, weekly drawings, 50-50 drawings, race night games and pools. The seminar will provide an overview of laws related to gambling and small games of chance, information about the responsibilities of liquor license holders, and updates regarding legislation that could affect existing laws.
