HARRISBURG – Grants totaling nearly $4 million are being awarded to 13 Cambria County recipients through the Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement Grant programs, according to state Sen. Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset).
“I am pleased to see vital projects in Cambria County receive funding from the commonwealth,” said Langerholc. “Grant awards from the Local Share Account will help fund important public projects in our area, and awards from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program help ensure that students in Cambria County have access to clean, up-to-date education facilities. Thank you to Rep. Rigby for partnering with me to secure these crucial funds.”
Penn Cambria School District has been awarded a $2 million grant for HVAC, plumbing, health and safety improvement projects at the high school through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program, which was funded in the 2023-24 state budget.
“This grant will be used for renovation and engineering costs associated with the project,” Rigby said. “The high school’s backup generator, water pipes and fire alarm system are in desperate need of being replaced. I’m glad Sen. Langerholc and I were able to work together with school district officials and make this much-needed funding become a reality.”
The LSA grant recipients include:
• Cassandra Borough - $89,321 for the purchase of a new tractor.
• Clearfield Township - $39,500 for school zone flashing lights to be placed on Glendale Road in front of Cambria Heights Middle School and High School campuses.
• Cresson Borough - $78,199 for the purchase of new police equipment to be used in Cresson and Lilly boroughs.
