WHAT: State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a ceremony to officially dedicate the portion of U.S. Route 219 which crosses Jackson Street in Summerhill Borough, Cambria County, as the Staff Sergeant Paul Regis Wilburn Memorial Bridge. The dedication is the result of legislation introduced by Rigby which became part of Act 140 of 2022.

Wilburn served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Armed Forces.

On January 18, 1945, he was serving as an engineer-gunner of a North American B-25 Mitchell bomber when the plane was downed in present-day Myanmar while returning from bombing the Nawnghkio Air Strip.

SS Wilburn was declared missing and posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. His remains are interred in Arlington Cemetery.
