HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) has been appointed by Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton to serve during the 2023-24 Legislative Session on the Veterans’ Home Advisory Council assigned to the Hollidaysburg Veterans’ Home.

“It is truly an honor to serve, in this capacity, those who have served our country,” said Rigby, who is also a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee. “The men and women who reside in the Hollidaysburg facility have earned and certainly deserve a quality level of care, and it is a privilege to be charged with seeing that that takes place.”

Pennsylvania has six Veterans Homes, and each one is overseen by an Advisory Council consisting of 15 members and The Adjutant General. Two weeks ago, Hollidaysburg broke ground for a new 200-bed long-term care building for veterans in need of skilled nursing and memory care.

“The Hollidaysburg home is one of only two which has domiciliary, memory, skilled and personal care,” Rigby added. “Our job is to meet quarterly and advise the Adjutant General as to the management, operation and the adequacy of facilities and services at the facility.”
