Rigby to Honor Fallen Firefighters in Bridge Renaming Ceremony

WHAT: A ceremony hosted by state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Johnstown) will officially rename the Franklin Street bridge which crosses the Stonycreek River as the City of Johnstown Firefighters Memorial Bridge. The name change is being made possible through House legislation authored by Rigby during the 2019-20 Legislative Session and will memorialize seven firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the residents of Johnstown.

WHO: Rigby will be joined by representatives from the Johnstown Fire Department, Johnstown Mayor Frank Janakovic and state Sen. Wayne Langerholc (R-35).

WHEN: This Friday, Oct. 1, 4 p.m.

WHERE: The ceremony will take place on the Vine Street side of the bridge, where anyone attending the event should park.
