HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) today announced $210,000 in School Safety and Security Grants for school districts in the 71st Legislative District.

“Students and teachers need to have a safe environment in which to learn and teach and these grants give schools the financial support they need to achieve that goal,” said Rigby. “The funding can be used for a variety of safety and security measures that fit each school’s particular needs.”

The recipient school districts and their awards are as follows:

• Westmont Hilltop School District - $35,000.
• Conemaugh Valley School District - $30,000.
• Forest Hills School District - $35,000.
• Ferndale Area School District - $35,000.
• Greater Johnstown School District - $40,000.
• Richland School District - $35,000.

A total of $53.7 million in grants were awarded by the School Safety and Security Committee within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency as part of the School Safety and Security Grant Program, which was created by lawmakers in 2018.

“I continue to support measures to boost school safety and give students the peace of mind they need to excel,” said Rigby. “All schools in the Commonwealth are encouraged to apply for these grants.”
