Rigby to Host Shredding Event Oct. 3 in Johnstown
September 25, 2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) will host a Shredding Event on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 4-7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Greater Johnstown High School, 222 Central Ave. in Johnstown.
“This event is a great opportunity to have documents containing personal information shredded by a commercial shredding machine for ultimate safety,” said Rigby. “With the risk of identity theft still very prevalent, I encourage area residents to take advantage of this service.”
Common types of unwanted items that should be shredded may include credit card statements or applications, bank statements, canceled checks, old income tax information, insurance and medical records, and other materials with identifying personal information like Social Security, credit card or bank account numbers.
Phonebooks, newspapers and bound books cannot be accepted. There is a five-box limit of paperwork to be shredded per household.
Shredding services will be provided by Burgmeiers Hauling/Shredding. Rigby and his staff will be at the event to help unload boxes from vehicles. This event is for residents only. No businesses, please.
