HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) today announced that the House of Representatives has voted unanimously to pass his House Bill 1595, which would designate the Washington Street Bridge in Johnstown as the SFC Raymond R. Buchan Memorial Bridge.

SFC Buchan, originally from Johnstown, served for 16 years in the United States Army. He gave his life in defense of his country on July 1, 2007, in Ta’meem, Iraq, just west of Baghdad.

“I am proud to honor SFC Buchan’s memory by working to name this bridge after him,” said Rigby. “He is a hero not only to Johnstown, but to the United States of America. I thank my colleagues for their support.”

The bill is now before the Senate for consideration.
