Rigby Applauds Broadband Access Grant for Gallitzin Public Library
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) announced today that the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has awarded a $942,564 grant to Gallitzin Borough through its Multi-Purpose Facilities Grant Program to fund renovations to the town’s library.
“Access to broadband internet is a necessity in today’s world and an essential piece of infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania, especially when it comes to education and learning opportunities,” said Rigby. “I’m proud to have worked with borough officials and the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority to secure this grant that will fund the renovation project in its entirety. Libraries play a vital role in our communities, and I’m glad I was able to make this possible to benefit residents of the area.”
The borough is hoping to renovate the Gallitzin Public Library in their mixed-use community building, which is located at 411 Convent St. The proposed renovations involve the areas that provide functions for the library or support the library.
The Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Program offers $45 million in competitive grants to community anchor institutions and units of local government for community projects to construct, acquire, or improve facilities that are, or will be, open to the public, and will directly enable work, education, and health monitoring at the respective facility.
