Rigby Announces Local Infrastructure Improvement Grants
HARRISBURG – Upgrades to three Cambria County water and stormwater systems are the result of successful grant applications made by those systems’ leaders, according to state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset).
“Grant writing is not an easy process, and I applaud the individuals whose determined work during the application process has been rewarded,” said Rigby. “These are necessary investments in our communities and I’m happy to share some good news for their residents.”
Here are the grant recipients and details of the awards:
• Gallitzin Water Authority - more than $446,000 to rehabilitate one of Gallitzin Township’s water tanks and replace another.
• Geistown Borough - more than $414,000 to make stormwater infrastructure improvements at five priority sites in the borough.
• Reade Township Municipal Authority - more than $174,000 to repair a pressure reducing valve vault, which aids in diagnosing sewage pumping problems.
The CFA is an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development and administers Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. Project approval requires five affirmative votes from the seven board members, four of which must come from legislative appointees.
