Rigby Announces Infrastructure Award for Local Sewer Authority
1/12/2023
HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) is awarding more than $8.6 million to the Portage Area Sewer Authority for repairs and improvements to its sewer system, according to state Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset).

“These infrastructure investments are not only the result of collaboration between local and state government, but also some of the most critical decisions we make,” said Rigby. “But while Harrisburg facilitates the funding, local government entities are solely responsible for initiating and following through on applications for these awards. I applaud the authority’s board members for taking the initiative and am glad they were successful.”

The money, which is in the form of a more than $1.1 million loan and a grant in excess of $7.4 million, will be used to rehabilitate existing sewer collection lines and extend sewer service to 500 additional properties.

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be addressed to Rigby’s district office by calling 814-536-9818.
