Rigby to Honor County’s Vietnam Era Veterans
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Johnstown) and local veterans’ officials will hold a ceremony this Saturday, Oct. 1, to recognize the service of Cambria County’s Vietnam War Era veterans by renaming the Oakridge Drive bridge which crosses U.S. Route 219 in Richland Township in their honor. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at Richland American Legion Post 849, 390 Oakridge Drive, Richland Township.
“We’re all well aware of the treatment many of these veterans received upon returning home because of the nature of the Vietnam War,” Rigby said. “The fact is these individuals deserve our respect for the duties they performed and should be remembered as heroes.”
Rigby authored
House Bill 2263, which was signed into law as part of Act 23 of 2022 and designates the Richland Township structure as the Cambria County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge. Following Saturday’s ceremony, a time for fellowship and refreshments will be held at the Legion.
Questions about this or any legislative issue may be directed to Rigby’s office at 1-814-536-9818.
