Rigby and Langerholc to Attend Public Information Panel Discussion Regarding Marijuana Legalization
HARRISBURG – Rep. Jim Rigby (R-Cambria/Somerset) and Sen. Wayne Langerholc (R-Bedford/Cambria/Clearfield) will attend a public information panel discussion held by the Forest Hills Ministerium. The discussion will take place on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m., in the Forest Hills High School LGI Room at
535 Locust St. in Sidman.
The panel discussion will focus on possible concerns regarding the proposed bill to legalize recreational marijuana, Senate Bill 350, co-authored by Sens. Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) and Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia).
“With recreational marijuana legalization, there come many issues that this bill does not consider, which would cause a lot of problems if the bill is passed in its current form. As a former chief of Police, I dealt with controlled substance users and saw the dangers that unregulated use poses to communities,” said Rigby. “I am firmly opposed to the bill because of these concerns, and I look forward to hearing those of our citizens.”
Senate Bill 350 would allow those at/over the age of 21 to use recreational marijuana in Pennsylvania, as well as grow up to six marijuana plants at a time, per household, for personal use.
“As your Senator, a former assistant district attorney and former lead prosecutor of the Cambria County Drug Task Force I know firsthand the dangers of controlled substances,” Langerholc said. “I do not support recreational marijuana. I look forward to the dialogue at this public forum.”
While the event is open to the public, the format will consist of short presentations by invited panelists and is not intended to be a public forum.
The Ministerium is an association of nine pastors representing twelve Churches that are located in the Forest Hills area. The Ministerium plans and offers community worship services, outreach ministries, and public events to promote the Christian faith, as well as to support other community and non-profit ministry organizations.
